REPORTING TO: Director, K-12 Services

POSITION TYPE: Salaried/Full Time

OVERVIEW

MEFA is seeking an energetic, independent, and self-motivated candidate to be a member of the College Planning, Education, and Training team with a primary focus on advancing MEFA programs and services to K-12 schools in Massachusetts, including MEFA Pathway, MEFA's college and career planning tool. The role of this position will be to work closely with educators as they guide students and families in planning for postsecondary readiness and success. The ideal applicant will be someone who desires to make a real impact on the lives of young people, strives to put learning into action, thrives on new challenges, and wants to become an expert on providing information on access, affordability, and opportunity for postsecondary success. This person will report directly to the Director of K-12 Services and work closely with the College Planning Team. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The start date is flexible.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-4 years of experience in a community-based organization and/or an educational setting helping students and families with access, affordability, and opportunity in postsecondary planning
  • Experience with diverse high school and/or college populations from underrepresented communities desired
  • Knowledge of barriers faced by low-income, first-generation, college-bound students
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with K-12 school educators and staff from community-based organizations.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Attention to detail, and ability to achieve goals
  • Organizational abilities and exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a larger team
  • Involvement with professional trade association(s) desired
  • Comfortable learning and/or using platforms such as Salesforce to efficiently and accurately complete work
  • Bilingual language skills desired
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work model, including travel across Massachusetts
  • Ability to work flexible hours that will include some evenings and occasional weekends due to school and community-based events and webinar offerings

RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

  • Work directly with the Director of K-12 Services to understand, assist, and contribute to the goals of the K-12 strategy plan
  • Develop strong school relationships across Massachusetts, especially in Gateway Cities, to support educators as they guide students in college and career planning
  • Educate students and families on MEFA's services and resources focused on planning for postsecondary success, including MEFA Pathway
  • Work with the Editorial Team to create and deliver new content to drive student and educator engagement
  • Deliver webinars and seminars to students, families, and educators on MEFA's resources and topics such as planning for postsecondary success, saving for college, college admissions, financial aid, and paying for college
  • Build knowledge of relevant engagement metrics to improve outcome of in-person and virtual efforts
  • Support K-12 guidance inquiries via email and phone
  • Foster and strengthen relationships and partnerships with community-based organizations
  • Participate in committees and professional organizations, including state and national conferences
  • Attend industry meetings and networking events with education professionals
