Honoring Veterans on Nov 11 & Every Day with Specialized College Planning Guidance
As the nation prepares to celebrate Veterans Day, the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) stands ready year round to assist Veterans, active military members, and their families in understanding how to apply service-related benefits to pursue higher education.
"While we pause on Veterans Day to honor those who served in our nation's armed services, we are ready every day to help them pursue their dreams of higher education. MEFA has compiled a comprehensive list of resources to help Veterans, service members, and their families use service-related benefits to pursue their continuing education. In addition, MEFA's expert staff is just a phone call away to provide personalized, expert guidance," said Thomas Graf, Executive Director of MEFA.
MEFA's user-friendly website has many helpful resources. Among the resources:
- Watch Using Veterans' Education Benefits to Finance a College Education. This recorded webinar takes a deep dive into different GI Bill types, Veteran readiness and employment benefits, and much more. Guest speaker Nick Charrette, Assistant Director of Veterans Upward Bound, and host Julie Shields-Rutyna of MEFA discuss how to calculate benefit entitlement and pitfalls to avoid.
- Visit the College Resources for Veterans & Active Military page. Follow the 16 links to federal, state, and private organizations offering education benefits for Veterans and service members.
Veterans, active service members, and their families may also contact MEFA's expert staff directly at (800) 449-MEFA (6332) or collegeplanning@mefa.org.
