[00:00:00] If you’re a high school student thinking about applying to college, you may have some questions about SAT or acts like, what are they? There are tests that measure your readiness for college. Do I have to take them? Some colleges require students to submit their SAT or a CT scores as part of their applications, and they have a range of scores that they’re looking for as they make the decision on their acceptances.

Is, but a growing number of schools are tests optional, meaning that these tests aren’t required for admission. So check with your prospective colleges and see what they require. If the test is optional, should I take it? It’s a good idea to take the SAT or a CT at least once just to see how you do. If your test scores show you in a favorable light, then by all means, send your scores to your colleges.

One thing to keep in mind is that even at test optional [00:01:00] colleges, if they don’t receive your test scores, more weight in your application will be placed on your GPA. If you feel good about that, then great. If you wanna demonstrate further strength by sending your scores, go for it. Which test should I take?

There are differences between the two tests. The A CT is generally seen as testing what you learned in high school. While the SAT is seen as more of an aptitude test, if you wanna know which one you should take, there are free practice tests available online. Take a look and see which one suits you best.

How many times can I take them? You can take these tests multiple times. Why would anyone wanna do that? Because studies show that up to a point scores tend to improve with second or third tests. This is especially true if you’re receiving tutoring. There’s free test prep for the SAT and a CT available on their [00:02:00] websites.

I know many of you have more questions on the SAT and a CT. Here’s where you can find us.
