[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to MEFA’s series on ways to pay for qualified disability expenses for Attainable, the Massachusetts ABLE Savings Program. ABLE plans are designed to help individuals with disabilities save for the future without affecting federal public benefits. Today we’ll be talking about transportation expenses.

One of the greatest barriers to individuals with disabilities being able to access services in their community, and especially being able to get to and from places of employment, is transportation. Almost all transportation options are available to be paid utilizing your ABLE account. When you save in an ABLE account, you can use your funds to pay for public transportation like buses, ferries, trains, and subways, rideshare services like Uber and Lyft, or even purchasing a vehicle.

Remember, since 2005, you are allowed to own one automobile without it affecting your eligibility for SSI. If you have questions, contact us at 800 449 6332 or at attainable at MEFA. org. You can also learn more at mifa. org [00:01:00] slash able.
