Scholarships aren't just for students attending a traditional 4-year college. Many contests exist for students entering a trade school, and any amount, no matter how big or small, will mean less expenses you have to pay out of pocket. We highlight six scholarships below for students interested in trade schools. Awards range from $500 to $5,000. HVAC Hero Scholarship 

How to Apply: Complete the online application, including a transcript, a recent headshot, and an essay or video explaining why you are interested in HVAC
Eligibility: Open to students planning to enroll or currently enrolled at an accredited institution for the 2023-2024 academic year pursuing an Associate Degree, Certificate, or Diploma in an HVAC technical program with at least a 2.0 GPA
Amount: $2,500
Deadline:  May 31, 2023

Women in HVACR Scholarship 

How to Apply: Submit an essay of at least 500 words on what motivated you to seek a career in the HVACR industry, your professional goals, and what you feel are the most important issues facing your field today
Eligibility: Open to women currently enrolled in a college or trade school preparing them to enter into the HVACR industry with at least a 3.0 GPA
Amount: $5,000
Deadline:  June 1, 2023

Koehler Family Trades and Engineering Scholarship

How to Apply: Write an essay between 400 and 600 words on why you are passionate about pursuing an engineering or trades degree and how your upbringing and life events impacted who you are today
Eligibility: Open to high school seniors, undergraduates, or trade school students studying engineering or the trades
Amount: $500
Deadline:  June 15, 2023

SkillPointe Foundation Scholarship

How to Apply: Submit two short essays on why and how you chose your particular career path and how your training will help you achieve your career goals
Eligibility: Must be 17 years of age or older and attending a technical school, vocational school, or community college. This scholarship is exclusively for individuals wishing to gain a certificate, credential, or 2-year degree
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: June 30, 2023

Home Depot Foundation's Path to Pro Scholarship

How to Apply: Submit two short essays on what is driving your passion to pursue a career in the skilled trades and how this scholarship and education will help you achieve your career goals
Eligibility: Must be a high school senior or graduate enrolled or planning to enroll in an approved trade-related program at an accredited U.S. two-year school (technical/vocational school or college) focused on carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or construction management
Amount: $2,000
Deadline: June 30, 2023

NAWIC Construction Trades Scholarship

How to Apply: Write three essays describing what your ultimate goal is in the construction industry, what has been your most important extracurricular activity, and why you are interested in a construction industry career
Eligibility: Must be enrolled in a construction-related training program which is approved by the Bureau of Apprenticeship Training, a community college, a technical school, or equivalent, and obtaining training in a construction-related craft or trade
Amount: Awards range from $500 to $2,500
Deadline: February 28, 2024
