Creating an FSA ID

If you’re applying for financial aid this year, you’ll need an FSA ID, a log-in that will allow you to sign and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). Both the student applicant and one parent will need an FSA ID. The FSA ID will also allow the student to access his or her federal financial aid record.

Creating an FSA ID doesn’t take long, but there are a few steps involved. We’ve put together a quick visual presentation to walk you through the process. And when you're ready, you can create your FSA ID online here.

Navigating the presentation below is easy — simply use the left and right arrows at the bottom of the slides to get through the content. If you’re interested in seeing it big screen, use the 2-way diagonal arrows to adjust the size, then navigate the presentation by using the arrows on your keyboard.
