FAFSA Challenge LogoFAFSA Day MA is excited to announce the winners of the 2017-18 FAFSA Challenge! The FAFSA Challenge is a statewide campaign with the goal of increasing the number of Massachusetts high school seniors who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The FAFSA is an important form that helps students qualify for federal aid to help pay for college expenses.

The FAFSA Challenge encourages Massachusetts’ schools and districts to set a goal of FAFSA completion for as many students as possible. Incentives include a scholarship prize of $750 for schools’ efforts in highest overall and most improved participating percentage through May 1st. This year, there was a tie for the highest overall completion, so the FAFSA Day committee issued 3 awards of $750 each to the winning high schools, which then awarded the scholarship to a student of their choice.

Drum roll….and the winners of this year’s FAFSA Challenge are:

Highest overall FAFSA completion (tied) goes to Berkshire Arts & Technology Charter Public School ($375 to 2 students) and City on a Hill Charter Public School. Scholarships were awarded to:

  • Ashlyn M. attending Framingham State University
  • Gerardo A. attending University of Massachusetts Amherst
  • Destiny H. attending Bridgewater State University

Most Improved FAFSA completion rate goes to Lawrence High School Campus. A scholarship was awarded to:

  • Martha H. attending University of Massachusetts Lowell

Congratulations and great job to our winners! Stay tuned for details here for FAFSA Challenge 2018-19 and here for upcoming FAFSA Day events, which provide free FAFSA completion assistance to help students get the federal and state aid they need to attend college.
