The Gift of a College Education

gift of college

As the parent of a young child (or children), have you ever wished that you had an easy way to share your enthusiasm for saving for college with all of your friends and relatives? It would be great to let them see for themselves the goals that you and your child have for the future, and show them how they can help your family achieve those college dreams. Well now there's an answer.

The Massachusetts 529 program, the U. Fund, has a new college gifting service that allows families to do just that. Parents can create a free personalized online gifting page for each child who has a 529 account. This is the place where families can post personal greetings and share children’s accomplishments, as well as their hopes and dreams for what they want to be when they finish college.

As the child's dreams change and goals are adjusted, it is easy to update the page and keep families and friends engaged. The link for the page can be shared with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends as the answer to the age-old question…”what should we get as a birthday or holiday gift?” Families are relying more and more on relatives and friends to help with saving for college, and this new tool makes it easy to do.
