Getting to Know the FAFSA®

If you have children headed to college next fall, you probably have financial aid in mind. And if so, you’ll need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the main form used in the college financial aid process. The FAFSA became available on Oct 1st this year (earlier than in previous years). We know some families have some anxiety around the application, but it really isn’t too difficult to complete, and there are several tools and resources within it to help you through the process.

To provide you some insight into just what you’ll see on the FAFSA, we created the presentation below. It walks you through every page of the application, so you can preview the questions you’ll be asked and the information you’ll need to provide. Navigating the presentation is easy — simply use the left and right arrows at the bottom of the slides to get through the content. If you’d like to see it big screen, use the 2-way diagonal arrows to view the presentation in full-screen mode, then navigate the presentation by using the arrows on your keyboard.

We’ve provided FAFSA customer service information within the presentation, but if you have general questions about the FAFSA or the college financial aid process, reach out to us here at MEFA anytime. We’re available by phone at (800) 449-MEFA (6332) or by email at info@mefa.org.
