As part of our public service outreach, MEFA offers several FREE trainings and events for school counselors throughout the year. These include full-day sessions, webinars and professional conference seminars.
MEFA is registered by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to provide Professional Development Points (PDP) to school counselors. Read more about our PDP policy.
MEFA offers five annual statewide financial aid trainings for Massachusetts high school guidance counselors in December and January to provide financial aid updates, offer helpful tips for advising students and facilitate discussion on recent trends. Each training is worth 5 PDPs. All trainings for the 2013-14 academic year are open for registration:
December 10, 2013 - Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA
December 12, 2013 - Endicott College, Beverly, MA
January 7, 2014 - Bridgewater State University, Bridgewater, MA
January 9, 2014 - Amherst College, Amherst, MA
January 16, 2014 - College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA
Earn more PDP Credits! Our annual School Counselor Financial Aid Trainings are supplemented by an ongoing series of webinars that address timely financial aid topics. Each webinar is worth 1 PDP. All webinars begin at 10 AM and last one hour. Earn your PDPs by completing a Evidence of Learning form for each webinar.
